The Emancipation Complex: VOTE NOW!

It could just be me... But apparently it's not.

The hottest on-line discussion revolves around Mariah Carey's newest album cover.

I must admit that I've been a lifelong Mariah Carey fan and I've stuck true to her, in both good and bad times. It is quite clear that her talent management has shifted in daring ways, from white ballad queen to African-American hip-hop mogul and friend to the likes of Snoop Dogg, The Neptunes and Nelly. She's sounding better than ever before and looks poised to take the music world back by storm.

Somehow, she seems affected by the likes of the Janet bug. (Jackson, that is.) In person, her weight is more notorious, but seems mind-blowingly perfect when time comes to shoot music videos and particularly, album covers. A few years back (OK, 1998), the release of her #1's album (which ironically, became her first album to not reach that position in several markets) brought to mind a question that today resonates in the mind of many devoted Mariah followers: is that REALLY her on the cover?

Airbrushing has become the standard for several artists such as Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé to sport a drop-dead gorgeous look on their album and single covers (not to mention magazine covers, the granddaddy of Photoshop® magic), but this time there's some slightly shocking evidence to back-up some spells about her impressive graphic representation.

Infamous Marcus Klinko, photographer to the famous and fashionable was comissioned the album cover and concept for Mariah's (hopefully) triumphant comeback. Turns out, it's his trademark touch all over the final image... however, is that Mariah's body? See for yourself. Here is an image of the original fashionista image by Klinko himself, alongside the image that Mariah Carey sports on the forthcoming "Emancipation Of Mimi" cover.

Who's who?

It's uncanny.

That pose.
Those legs.
The face's position.
The waving of the equally glamorous dress.

There's simply too much that's visually suspiciously TOO similar.

If that doesn't convince you, here's a mash-up of both images masked together at the same body size. Nothing has been altered, feathered, blurred, or otherwise changed. What you see is what you get.

Are these the same two images?

Incredible, isn't it?

Sure, there are a few differences here and there. We're not alleging that this is a copy by any means, but it does raise up some interesting doubts in any person's mind. Recent Mariah appearances and photographs suggest that her body does look somewhat different that this (obviously) processed image reflects.

To some this may be irreverent, to others interesting.
In the end, it's up to you, dear visitor, to make up your mind and cast your vote.

Is this Mariah's real body on the cover? It should not be surprising that (allegedly) Beyoncé's debut album cover was shot by the same photographer, thus resulting in a very similar look.

Undoubtedly, Mariah looks amazing... Once again... Is this her body?

Vote now! Post your vote: YES/NO and feel free to post your thoughts.

At any rate, her album will be a sure-fire hit, so this is you exercising your freedom of speech.

Cheers people!

is that her body? IS THAT HER FACE???!!! c'mon... i can barely tell it's her... i don't know, maybe the face position, and that tan!
she looks more like Beyonce, than Mariah Carey herself...

And chaco, who's that on the first pic?... just a model or someone we know?

On MC's pic... I'm totally sure her body is airbrushed... i don't doubt it, not even a little bit...

But anyway... we'll make sure on her first public appearances... Truth will be told!!!
just imagine, on an E! red carpet show:
-"Mariah, tell us what you are wearing"
-"Oh... this one? it's a Photoshop! it's beatiful, huh? it does wonders to my body..."

    cheers mate!

Totally agree! See? She's going both ways at once: African-American, Beyoncé-Style and Latin-flava doin' the Shakira thing...

Odd, huh? The first model is a Klinko shot, by the SAME photographer, so it seems like a no-brainer, however, she must be conceded benefit of doubt.

I'm wearing a Photoshop? Damn, we hope not! Otherwise she'd be scary at yet another P. Diddy soirée...

    Thanks buddy, good comments.

PS: I agree on the aroba thing in english, NOT to be mistaken with the minuscule isle of Aruba.
